Hotel De Ville

Hotel De Ville is located in the exclusive eighteenth-century residence of Palazzo Serra Gerace, a noble residence that from Sottoripa overlooks the area of the Porto Antico of Genoa, Italy, and the main attractions of the city. From the harmonious balance between the restored frescoes and the modern custom-designed furniture, a high-class structure is born that combines a 4-star welcome with the hospitality and warmth of family-run management. Protected by the Superintendency of Fine Arts and open to the public during the Rolli Days event, the palace is a precious jewel of Baroque art that houses the majestic frescoes by Paolo Gerolamo Piola and Jacopo Antonio Boni, representing the cycle of the Stories of Aeneas and dating back to 1700. The interiors, albeit restored, have maintained their original splendour both in the individual rooms and in the common areas, creating a unique and exclusive atmosphere to be able to immerse yourself in the noble history of the Palace. Art is a constant presence in the rooms of Hotel De Ville, which also hosts exhibitions of modern paintings and vintage posters belonging to the Image art gallery in Alassio; therefore, the building becomes at the same time an atelier reserved exclusively for customers. Palazzo Serra Gerace is a mansion in the historic centre of Genoa, whose foundations date back to the dawn of the city in medieval times, divided between the main noble families of the Genoese Republic (Calvi, Falamonica, Pallavicini and Ricci) to then be assembled into a single structure in 1677. From the private residence of Gerolamo Serra in the early 1600s to his son Giovanni Battista and his wife heir to the Princes of Gerace, over the centuries the building has undergone the artistic and structural changes that today make it one of the most fascinating noble residences in Genoa. From a patrician residence owned by the Italian Insurance Company, it was used as a hotel in 1846 as Hotel De La Ville until the early 1900s. Despite some damage due to bombing during the Second World War, Palazzo Serra Gerace has maintained its original structure, which stood out from the restoration at the end of the 70s thanks to its acquisition by the Municipality of Genoa. Being protected by the constraints of the Superintendence of Fine Arts, Palazzo Serra Gearce is a jewel of inestimable beauty. Visits have only been allowed since 2016, becoming one of the main attractions of the Rolli Days, the artistic-cultural event that periodically opens the doors of the Genoese noble palaces to the public.
