I have four passions in life. My sport, family, work and God. Each I pursue with dogged determination to be better and to excel. The greatest blessing and experience in life is the privilege of life is having a loving and supporting wife and incredible children. My relationship with each of them is treasured above all. I am blessed in that I am healthy, enjoy the blessing of life and am extremely active. I am thrilled to be able to compete on the international stage for home and country. Success therein is just a cherry on top. Career and work has been an incredible experience. Knowing what I wanted to be early in high school and achieving such has brought about economic emancipation and a lifestyle I could only dream about as a little boy. I bask in the success and abilities given to me and the blessing poured out in great abundance.

Nomad List's mission is to accelerate the freedom of global movement enabled by remote work. Nomad List finds you the best places in the world to live, work and travel as a remote worker. Every second, it collects millions of data points on thousands of cities around the world, from cost of living, temperature to safety. With that data, Nomad List gives you an idea of where it's best for you to go. Nomad List has much more features than just that though: you can do things like find coworking spaces in each city, see how warm it is in a city in a specific month, search for places with specific climates, read reviews and see who of Nomad List's members is in a city now or will be there soon. Nomad List originally started out for digital nomads but, as remote work has become more prevalent, it's evolved into a platform for remote workers living anywhere in the world. We have a 10,000+ people member base who log their trips to meet other people in the same place, and chat everyday on Slack to ask questions, share information and make friends. Many of them also organize and attend our regular meetups in real life. The goal of Nomad List's community is to make it less isolating to be a remote worker, and since it's a paid membership it offers a way to fund the main site's development of city rankings and data to help people find places to go.

We’re on a mission and we want to do things differently! Building a sharing community of global travellers who genuinely want to see the world whilst contributing and giving back to the places they visit. Alongside our welcoming hosts, ready to receive visitors who are able to help out. With thousands and thousands of users and millions of page views every month we thought it was time to write another update on Workaway where we’ve come from and where we’re going… First of all, a continued big thank you to everyone who has made the success of Workaway possible. As well as our current team, we also want to thank the thousands of members who have used Workaway to connect and spread the message on a global scale. Did you know that we’ve grown completely organically and NEVER actively advertise? Workaway has grown via word of mouth, which only inspires us to keep going, knowing that we are providing a service that is making waves across the global travel community. It always used to amaze us that people would pay thousands of dollars to companies or agents to volunteer or work in a different country. Often these companies would charge to “arrange” a volunteer stay or job whilst taking a huge chunk of the profit for themselves and to pay for their advertising whilst giving a very small percentage to the actual place in need. We feel we have made great strides in disrupting this industry. We know that given the right tools and with the power of the internet people are perfectly capable of arranging their own stay, conducting their own checks and organising their own insurance and transport, not only giving the flexibility they need but also making substantial savings to their travel budget. We believe that you get out of life what you are willing to put into it!
Worldpackers is a community based on collaboration and honest relationships that make travel more accessible to those seeking a profound cultural experience. Through an online platform, we connect travelers - looking to exchange their skills for accommodation - with incredible hosts from all around the world. Worldpackers was born through the life experiences of two friends, Riq Lima and Eric Faria. Riq, is an economist who left his job as an investment banker to travel the world for 4 years with little money, but a creative mind. Eric, a certified accountant, initially travelled to the USA to learn English, but ended up staying for nearly four years. His first two years were spent helping out at USA Hostels in San Diego, as a receptionist, a housekeeper and a tourist guide by exchanging his skills for accommodation. He then helped to found International Travellers House, a hostel chain located in California and whose staff was made up entirely of volunteers. Worldpackers is a platform for travelers and hosts, made by those who live and love travel! Our purpose is to democratize meaningful travel experiences through a collaborative mindset.

WWOOF is an exchange network operating in many countries where accommodation, meals and learning are given in return for help to hosts. A WWOOF host invites people to come to their place to work, usually about 4 to 6 hours a day in return for their daily food, boarding and the experience of sharing daily life with the people who live and work at the host. Stays of varying lengths are possible. Each WWOOF group is a separate and independent organisation. There is no head office of WWOOFing in the world. WorldWide Opportunities on Organic Farms, UK (WWOOF™ UK) is part of a worldwide movement linking visitors with organic farmers, promote a cultural and educational exchange, and build a global community conscious of ecological farming and sustainability practices. WWOOF’s goal is to provide individuals from all around the world the opportunity to: gain practical skills in organic farming and gardening experience rural living while sharing in the everyday life of your host further the organic and sustainability movement participate in a cultural exchange WWOOF’s further goal is to: create a network within the ecological movement. Promote, inform and educate about agro-ecological farming and sustainability. Present ecological methods as viable alternatives promote solidarity between people as well as an ethical economy, living, learning & sharing organic lifestyles. The founding idea of WWOOF is to facilitate exchanges around organic use of the land in pursuit of a way of living in harmony with nature. WWOOF provides a way for people to learn about organic food, agriculture and sustainable ways of living. In doing so, it brings together people who share similar values and philosophies. WWOOF aims to provide helping hands to its hosts, and at the same time allows visitors to learn what it means to grow one's own food sustainably. The acronym "WWOOF" originally stood for Working Weekends On Organic Farms. These days, some call it Willing Workers On Organic Farms or World Wide Opportunities on Organic Farms. Organic farming is the primary activity hosts do, however there are sometimes variations of this. In an effort to provide access to a greater diversity of experience, where it could be possible to learn and experience what might be called an organic lifestyle was recognised and in response some WWOOF groups have hosts that are, for example, places like health and healing centers, pottery and arts, building and restoring buildings, organic restaurants, dealing with animals, eco villages, brewing and production of foods, nature guide centre, centers for the environment. To find out what kind of hosts the WWOOF group in the country you are going to has, check their website and write to the coordinator of that group to ask them.

In 1984, Jean-Louis Costes, a young and audacious man from the Aveyron region, teamed up with Philippe Starck, an unknown underground designer, to create a fully unique café. Resembling a gigantic, translucent and futuristic bubble, this café was completely different from traditional Parisian bistros, and located in the ‘les Halles’ district, a controversial neighborhood in the midst of a major transition. It became the place to be, drawing in hordes of visitors, and making quite a stir. Episode 2. In 1995, Jean-Louis Costes made a radical shift and inaugurated the Hotel Costes on Rue Saint-Honoré, a heartbeat away from the Place Vendôme, one of the most elegant and dynamic squares in Paris. Jacques Garcia, known for his refinement, mixing elegance with touches of baroque, was entrusted with the decor. Putting his exquisite craftsmanship to work, the interior designer gave life to this 18th century mansion, turning it into a fully unique 5-star hotel, breaking with the trendy designs of the time. The interior is characterized by opulence and a theatrical appeal, with revolutionary styles and superimposed elements from different time periods. Results: for 25 years, Hotel Costes has been seen as a timeless venue, emblematic of Parisian life, where eclectic crowds flow in and out, both day and night. Episode 3. This year, Hotel Costes is writing a new chapter in its history. Jean-Louis Costes has chosen to entrust this immense project to the ultra-minimalist and illustrious Christian Liaigre to design a new and unique three-dimensional venue in Paris. This is the time of maturity: less grandiose, yet epic, this XXL luxury hotel is comprised of the former Hotel Lotti, on rue de Castiglione, and a newer hotel, located on rue Mount Tabor. A trio boasting xxx rooms, with totally different, yet complementary atmospheres, positioned around the legendary restaurant.

Set in one of the city’s eight monumental palazzos on the Grand Canal, Aman Venice embodies all that is sumptuous and sensuous about La Serenissima. Rococo works of art are offset by the contemporary restraint of Jean-Michel Gathy interiors, while private gardens – rare in this floating city – are overlooked by opulent dining venues and spacious suites. More home than hotel, Aman Venice offers the rare privilege of space in the centre of the Floating City. Built on water and synonymous with romance, Venice is famed for its canals, the largest of which – the Grand Canal – is overlooked by the regal 16th-century palazzo which houses Aman Venice. Presenting 24 guestrooms and suites, many with historic architectural details, the hotel also offers two private gardens.
Built in 1854 by the Italian Navy, the Capo Spartivento lighthouse was one of the twenty royal lighthouses wanted by Vittorio Emanuele of Savoy, whose initials still lead in the wrought iron frieze that dominates the entrance door. Machine-gunned by American planes during the Second World War, the building underwent its first and only restoration at the end of the conflict. It housed the lighthouse family until the 1980s, when automation wiped out the changing of the guard. Fallen into oblivion for over 30 years, in 2006 the second life of the Lighthouse began. A metamorphosis that began many years earlier, a childhood dream long placed in the drawer, an ambitious project that became reality thanks to the passion and dedication of those who put their head and soul into it. To trace the route once again, the Capo-Spartivento lighthouse is today the first and only lighthouse in Italy intended for hospitality, awarded by the leaders of the Italian Navy as an example of recovery of military architecture. Preserving the charm of a Mediterranean lighthouse, intervening with discretion and style, in the internal and external distribution, on the materials and on the furnishings, in order to make it at the same time an example of minimal Mediterranean style . The conservative restoration work of the lighthouse , which lasted eight long years, is a substantial and at the same time respectful intervention , which profoundly transforms the intended use of the building, with regard to the historical memory of a place that belongs to the community. The final result is a project in which environment, architecture and tourism meet , through the exclusive use of local materials and the application of the principles of green building . Stone, granite, basalt, wrought iron, wood and sea water draw the internal lines and external profiles of the Capo-Spartivento lighthouse. Hot water and electricity are produced through the use of photovoltaic panels. A desalinator allows the use of sea water for the normal functions of the structure, while a phytodepuration system allows the recovery of waste water to water the garden. The skilful revision of the spaces , according to a different use of the building, gives life to a new concept of Faro, a structure no longer projected exclusively towards the sea, but also towards the hinterland. The result is perfect harmony with the context. During the day it dominates nature, at night the lighthouse shines in all its beauty, in a dense dialogue between the light of the lantern and the play of lights, artificial and natural, which animates the property. The Capo-Spartivento lighthouse is an architecture of light, in which the fire that has illuminated the path of sailors for over 160 years continues to burn. The white minimalism of the interiors and the essential lines of the outdoor spaces are the backdrop to a universe of unique pieces from different places and eras. To those who know how to listen to them, objects and materials have stories to tell, stories of distant lands and ancient craftsmanship, unique stories, such as that of the lighthouse they inhabit. In the magic of Capo Spartivento, breakfast by the pool is eaten on ancient Turkish wagon bottoms , a majestic Indian trunk holds the books in the tea room, in the bathrooms on the ground floor the sinks rest on an ancient Mongolian mortar and the frame of a mirror conceals 42 Indian stamps , used to print fabrics. In a refined balance, these unique artifacts are placed side by side with design objects such as the red Murano crystal chandeliers or the Louis XIV style white leather seats that we find in the lounge. Without ever losing sight of the horizon, which seductively stands out beyond the windows, every detail in the Lighthouse is a clear tribute to the passion for travel.
Wakü Lodge is an inn that is located on the shore of the Canaima Lagoon, overlooking the Ucaima, Golondrina, Wadaima and Hacha Falls. In addition to its prime location, Wakü blends with landscapes and jungles to offer a warm and comforting environment that feels perfect and non-intrusive. Filled with uncaged birds, Wakü has become a sanctuary for the parrots and toucans that decided to live there. They appreciate the gestures of the guests, including caresses and snacks. Wakü is a family business that offers multiple spaces to share, read and relax. There are outdoor hammocks and many seating areas available to enjoy the breeze and views of the lagoon. The Wakü team accompanies its guests from their arrival at the airport, picks them up and takes them to the Lodge to share a welcome cocktail and show them around. Likewise, the inn offers packages that will allow its guests to enjoy intimate contact with the Canaima National Park, always accompanied by expert guides in the different expeditions and adventures, such as the trip to Angel Falls in a long canoe, through the Canaima Lagoon and other eye-catching attractions of the National Park. As part of the basic package, during their stay, people can feel free to use the paddle boards or kayaks in the Laguna, or take a ride through the indigenous town on the Cannondale bikes that they have at their guests' disposal. Other activities that can be done at this inn include different modalities to get to know the Angel Falls, visit the Kavac caves, trek to the Kuravaina Tepuy with Pozo Azul, among other activities that involve being in contact with nature. The history of this inn started with Raúl García Cañizal, a Spanish immigrant from Salamanca who arrived in Venezuela in 1957 and moved to Canaima in 1978. He started out supporting other operators as a tour guide, and it didn’t take long for him to decide that Canaima would be his life. As soon as his savings allowed him, Raúl acquired Canaima Tours C.A. with its concession on the shores of the Canaima Lagoon. This company, which started with a curiara and a cooler, turned it into the most important logistic system in the area, assembling a fleet of more than 40 boats (curiaras) and working with groups of more than 300 people who at that time were coming to Canaima from all over the world. This is how Raúl, with the unconditional support of his children, Castor, Rosa and Mary, and a team of great people, left a solid company, a relationship with the Pemón – which opened their doors to the family–, a great love for nature and a home for generations to come. In 1989 Mary met Julián Rodríguez, Captain of DC-3, in Canaima. Julián, apart from flying planes, was very good at construction. Together, as a family, they built the Wakü Lodge, which opened in 2002. Julián also ventured into his own aviation company. Almost 25 years after they arrived in Canaima, the now extended family is able to offer a complete experience: air transfer, accommodation and excursions. They are proud of their beginnings, nostalgic for the passage of time and the farewell of those who started this project, but they keep their vision forward, always dedicated to the dream of the Park. Today, their main objectives are to protect the National Park, to guarantee the sustainability of their facilities, to improve the working conditions of their team, and to offer to their guests the best experience in Canaima.
I am a God fearing individual, and I’m also a father to two beautiful kids, a boy and a girl. I worked for Tekkie Town as a Sales Assistant, and I was chosen as the best Sales person for the entire Mpumalanga province. I also worked for the Department of agriculture as a Data capture. I have a passion for sports, football is one of my favourites and one day I wish I can own a soccer team. While I was in high school, I always wanted to be a lawyer but, due to financial constraints, I could not become one. My interest in the justice system came when I realised that the late former president Mr Nelson Mandela was also a lawyer representing his people. I wish one day I could give back to my community and its people because my community gave us the likes of the late Steve Bantu Biko, one of the BCM Members who fought for the people of South Africa. My community is one of the underdeveloped communities of this country, but I know that one day all of this will change because I know that with education anything is possible. When a child is educated, communities will change for the better and if one community changes, then our country will change for the better as well and poverty will be no more. Education topped with one’s perseverance is the key to a bright future for all. With this pandemic people have lost their jobs and in some households you find that no one is working and people resort to drugs and alcohol, some get depressed to a point of taking their own lives. If we can start developing jobs for people, our continent would become a better place for us all. Being part of an initiative that supports the empowerment of those less privileged is one of my greatest wishes. I will be glad if all my wishes do come through because nothing is as important as education and hard work, and an educated country means a better world for us all.
